BEST DESTINATIONS
LINDOS BAY
Lindos is for most visitors the most impressive place on the island of Rhodes. At the first sight, everyone inevitably steps on the brake pedal, to admire the dramatic natural landscape which is enhanced by the picturesque quality of the town built in a more recent past. Traditional scents and a cosmopolitan culture form a unique puzzle no one can resist, full of character and friendly souls!
The view is astonishing. Over the calm waters of a wide, rocky bay, white flat-roofed houses rise up a slope from a golden, schallow, sandy beach, forming a light belt around the north side of the castle hill. The vista here is simply awe-inspiring!
ST. PAUL BAY
Saint Paul bay is known for it’s picturesque scenery and a stunning view towards the rock on which the Lindos Acropolis stands, it’s golden fine sand and the turquoise waters. It is believed that St. Paul came here in the year 51 AD to teach Christianity to the Rhodians. The beautiful small church built on the hillside to the right of the bay is also a very popular wedding location. The bay consists of two smaller beaches, surrounded by big rocks.
The waters are shallow and crystal clear here. The southern cove is busier, and it is organized with parasols and loungers. The northern cove, however, is calmer and quieter. Couples, families, and groups of young people enjoy the beauty of Saint Paul’s bay daily. You will see people diving in the water from the huge rock formations surrounding the beach. The water has a turquoise color that one cannot resist.
VLICHA
Vlicha is a little beach just before Lindos has a sun bed for everyone, while the sea here deepens smoothly and gradually. Vlicha beach is large enough not to become crowded, but not too immense and appeals particularly to people staying in Lindos who want to escape from the crowded central beach. Little children playing with their buckets in the sand, families from Lindos who are on first name terms with the man renting out umbrellas, foreign tourists and visitors from the hotels nearby.
It's common to observe people enjoying themselves by the seaside while groups of kids are engrossed in playful sand and activities. There is a plethora of of sun loungers. Here, the sea gradually gets deeper. The fact that this beach is seldom overcrowded is its finest feature.
KALATHOS
Kalathos beach offers sand and tiny pebbles as far as the eye can see. This long and extensive beach is 4 kilometers long. Although not as famous as other beaches on the island, its tranquil and unassuming character seems to be particularly appreciated by its visitors. Finding your own private spot should be an easy task, and therefore it is also popular mostly with those who wish to keep a low profile, and also with the local people during the high season.
The waters in Kalathos are among the best in Rhodes, deep clear and sparkling clean. Usually the sea is calm, especially during the summer. The beach is popular among families with small children. In busier spots you will also find wooden sun beds and bamboo umbrellas.
AGATHI
Agathi beach is famous for its fine golden sand and its shallow crystal clear waters. It is a beautiful, sheltered, cosy beach, and the only sign of civilization are its canteens. At the right side of the beach you will find some interesting underwater rock formations along the coastline, making this also an ideal spot for snorkeling.
At the end of the beach there is a 700-800 year old cave chapel with a white painted front. On the left side there is a cave secured with grids and on the right side some rooms built into the rock. Agathi beach was until a few years ago one of the hidden treasures of Rhodes!
RED SAND
Between Archangelos and Charaki 30 km from the city of Rhodes, is a dream bay, a closely guarded secret of the locals who get there. It is a lacy beach with emerald waters, rocks and caves. The water is shallow, the sand is fine and the sun is scorching hot. A boat ride to the hidden Red Sand is worthwhile. This is one of the best kept secrets on all of Rhodes. Most of the locals don’t even know about this place. Kokkini ammos beach, which is near to the Agathi beach, is only accessible by boat and it is almost deserted. Very few locals tend to organise picnics there, to light a fire and to grill fish or meat until late in the evening.
STEGNA
Stegna beach is situated 2 km away from Archangelos village, and 30 km from the city of Rhodes. It is a sandy beach with pebbles in parts and umbrellas and sunbeds are provided, while the visitor has the opportunity to practice various sea sports. The area is renowned for the fresh fish and the very tasty traditional Archangelos meals, prepared with fresh products from the village. The beach resort of Stegna in Rhodes is characterized by relaxing and family atmosphere. It is an ideal place for people looking for relaxation and a traditional "village" feeling.
